The World Bank?s Board of Executive Directors discussed on September 15 a new World Bank Group Country Partnership Strategy (CPS) for Georgia and accepted a decision to allocate USD 143 million assistance to Georgia for the period of 2006-2009.
?The goal of the new CPS is to support the country?s efforts to improve the quality of life of its people?, says Donna Dowsett Coirolo, World Bank Country Director for Georgia.
According to the World Bank Tbilisi Office, the new partnership strategy focuses on:
? Generating growth and job creation by removing barriers to private sector development and improving infrastructure, finance and markets;
? Enhancing human development and social protection through improved education, health, social protection, and community services;
? Strengthening public sector management and budgetary processes to reduce corruption and enable Georgia to better plan and meet its own development goals.
