202 TV Occasional Anchor Beaten

Irakli Kakabadze, who serves as an occasional anchor for the 202 television station’s political talk-show ?Debates,? was attacked and beaten up by unknown assailants overnight on September 7.

Kakabadze, a writer, was volunteering to anchor the talk-show at 202 TV after the co-founder of the television station and regular anchor of ?Debates? Shalva Ramishvili was arrested on August 27 on extortion charges. After this arrest, 202 television, which has always been regarded as the only station voicing a dissenting opinion to the government, became the source for harsh criticism of the authorities.

Some reports claim that Kakabadze was also robbed by the attackers, but Kakabadze has not yet made any comments.
