New U.S. Ambassador Meets Georgian President

New U.S. Ambassador to Georgia John F. Tefft presented his credentials to President Mikhail Saakashvili on August 23.


Tefft arrived in Georgia on August 18 to replace former U.S. Ambassador Richard Miles.


John Tefft is a native of Virginia who previously served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs. He is a 33-year veteran of the Foreign Service and during his career he has worked in Israel, Hungary, Italy, Russia and Lithuania.
