Abkhaz Leader Hails Maneuvers, Combat Readiness of Troops

Speaking with reporters after Abkhaz troops wrapped up large-scale military exercises on August 19 President of breakaway Abkhazia Sergey Bagapsh said that the combat readiness of the army has been significantly improved, Apsnipress news agency reported.

?Abkhazia should be ready to repel any kind of aggression? We will support the army, including with salaries and in terms of purchasing new equipment. We will also increase funding in order to have not large, but a professional army,? said Bagapsh, who attended the final stage of the five-day maneuvers at the Nagvalou training ground in Ochamchire district.
