U.S. Ambassador Miles Retires
Richard Miles, who has been the U.S. Ambassador to Georgia since April 2002, left for the United States on August 12, as his term of office has expired. New U.S. Ambassador John F. Tefft is expected to arrive in Tbilisi by the end of August.
Before his departure Richard Miles described his carrier in Georgia as ?very interesting.? In a statement issued through the U.S. Embassy’s web-site, Miles says that he is ?very proud to have been the U.S. Ambassador here.?
Richard Miles, whose mission coincided with one of the most important periods of Georgia?s recent history ? the 2003 Rose Revolution, has retired from the Foreign Service after 38 years.
