Tbilisi Details Reasons of Delay in Abkhaz Railway Talks
Irakli Alasania, the Georgian President?s special envoy for Abkhaz conflict settlement, said in a statement issued on August 9 that the presence of Georgian internally displaced persons from Abkhazia in a group of experts was the reason for the postponement of talks over the Abkhaz railway which were scheduled for August 9 in Sokhumi.
Alasania said that the Abkhaz side refuses to work with those three Georgian experts who were forced to flee Abkhazia after the armed conflict in early 90’s.
A joint group of experts from the Abkhaz, Georgian and Russian sides is expected to assess the current condition of the railway in Abkhazia in an attempt to figure out the amount of investment needed for rehabilitation works.
