New Imereti Governor Appointed

President Saakashvili appointed MP Akaki Bobokhidze as Governor of the west Georgia region of Imereti on August 9, Georgian media sources report.

Bobokhidze was elected to the Parliament as the majoritarian representative from the Khoni district in Imereti. The Imereti Governor?s position has been vacant since April, when Gia Getsadze tendered his resignation.
