Blast Reported in Akhaltsikhe

An unspecified device exploded outside the local police headquarters in the south Georgian city of Akhaltsikhe, Samtskhe-Javakheti region, on August 8, causing no injuries, RFE/RL Georgian service reported on Tuesday.

According to this report, an explosive, allegedly a hand-grenade went off in the afternoon, shattering the windows of nearby buildings and the police station itself.

The Georgian Interior Ministry refused to comment on this report, hence no other details of the incident are known.
