U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary Visits Georgia

U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Matthew Bryza arrived in Tbilisi for a two-day visit to meet with Georgian government officials and civil society leaders and discuss the strengthening of democratic institutions and peaceful resolutions to regional conflicts, the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi reported.


The U.S. official has already met with Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Noghaideli. After the talks, Noghaideli told reporters that Georgia is on an irreversible path of democratic reforms. ?We have a strong momentum of carrying out reforms,? the Georgian Prime Minister said.


Bryza also plans to hold talks with President Saakashvili, Foreign Minister Salome Zourabichvili, National Security Council Secretary Gela Bezhuashvili and Parliamentary Chair Nino Burjanadze.
