Ex-Finance Minister Nominated as Ambassador to Switzerland

President Saakashvili nominated former Finance Minister Valery Chechelashvili as Georgia?s Ambassador to Switzerland. The Parliament will discuss this nomination at the session on July 8.

Chechelashvili resigned from the Finance Minister?s position on June 29 following the high-profile arrests within the Tax Department involving corruption charges.

Former Deputy Foreign Minister Giorgi Gomiashvili was nominated initially as Georgia?s Ambassador to Switzerland, but the parliamentarians from the ruling National Movement party refused to support this nomination.
