Russian Security, MFA Officials Visit South Ossetia
After talks with the Georgian officials in Tbilisi on July 5, Russian Deputy Secretary of National Security Council Yuri Zubakov and Valerie Kenyaikin, the Russian Foreign Ministry?s special envoy, left for the South Ossetian capital Tskhinvali on July 6.
There, they are planning talks with the authorities of the breakaway region, after which they will again meet with Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues Goga Khaindrava in Tbilisi. Talks with Secretary Georgian National Security Council Gela Bezhuashvili are also planned.
?It is very important that we have mutual understanding that it is necessary to move forward. But there are some complicated issues, where the position of all parties involved is very important,? Yuri Zubakov told reporters after talks with Goga Khaindrava in Tbilisi on July 5.
?The recent incidents that occurred in the conflict zone topped the agenda of the talks,? Gaga Khaindrava told Civil Georgia on July 6.
These recent incidents in the conflict zone involved an armed clash on May 29, which resulted in death of four Ossetians and one Georgian policeman, and the disappearance of four Georgians, who have been missing in the conflict zone since June 6.
