TV Report: Suspect in Bush Grenade Incident Identified

Tbilisi-based Rustavi 2 reported that the law enforcement agencies have identified a person, who allegedly tossed grenade in a crowed while visiting U.S. President George W. Bush was addressing Georgians on Freedom Square in Tbilisi on May 10.


According to this report law enforcers suspect a person who is from Bulgaria. But chief of the Bulgarian Interpol Bureau Petar Hristov said that the Georgian counterparts have not yet notified the Bulgarian side, Sofia News Agency reported on June 27.


The Georgian Interior Ministry has not yet commented on this report by the Rustavi 2.


Georgian law enforcers and FBI are jointly investigating the May 10 incident. FBI official Bryan Paarmann said at a news conference in Tbilisi on May 18 that the hand grenade that was found near the site where the U.S. and Georgian Presidents addressed tens of thousands Georgians appeared to be ?a live device that simply failed to function.?
