Georgian Defense Minister Meets U.S. Secretary of Defense

Visiting Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Okruashvili met with U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld in Pentagon on June 17 and discussed ?defense issues of mutual interest,? the U.S. Department of Defense reported.


Defense Minister Irakli Okruashvili was accompanied by Georgian Ambassador to the U.S. Levon Mikeladze, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Defense and Security Nika Rurua and Georgian Defense Attach? Major Lasha Beridze.


No other details of these talks are reported.


Minister Irakli Okruashvili left for Washington on June 13 from Brussels, where he participated in the meeting of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council on June 10.
