Russia Sets up Two Rifle Brigades on Border with Georgia

Russian Defense Minister Sergey Ivanov said on June 6 that two light mountain rifle brigades will be set up on the Russian-Georgian border ?to eradicate the infiltration of terrorists from Georgia into Russia.?

 

?This decision has already been accepted at all levels,? RIA Novosti quotes Sergey Ivanov as saying.

 

The Minister stressed that the new brigades, which will include army contractors as well, will, as he put it, “have completely different armaments.”
