US-Funded Customs Facility Opened at Azeri Border

An official ceremony for the opening of a new customs facility at the Red Bridge border crossing from Georgia into Azerbaijan was held on May 23. The ceremony was attended by President Saakashvili and other officials.

Officials said that the new Red Bridge customs facility, for which the U.S. government has contributed USD 2.1 million, will assist the Georgian customs service in processing the 12,000 commercial vehicles per year that pass through the border crossing and will help to improve the process of revenue collection.
