Tbilisi Calls S.Ossetia for Dialogue

In an address to the Georgian nation on May 3 President Saakashvili called on the South Ossetian side to agree on a dialogue with Tbilisi. He said that an international conference will be held in Tbilisi in June to discuss this conflict.

?We have closed down a training camp for reserve forces in the village of Dzevera [in the South Ossetian conflict zone]. We have decreased tenfold number of Georgian peacekeepers [in the conflict zone]… We have offered peace plan of conflict resolution to the South Ossetian side. Now, I call on each peaceable force to agree on a dialogue,? Saakashvili said.

He said, the Georgian authorities plan to hold ?a huge conference? in Tbilisi and invite all the international organizations working over the conflict resolution issues in June to thoroughly discuss the South Ossetian peace plan.

The Georgian President also noted that Tbilisi is ready to open special offices in Gori, a town near the South Ossetian conflict zone, which will issue Georgian passports to the citizens living in the breakaway region.
