Weather Prevents Aid Delivery to Flood-Hit Svaneti
Officials say access to a number of flood-stricken villages in the high mountainous region of Svaneti in western Georgia is still cut off due to bad weather conditions, which makes delivery of humanitarian aid to these villages impossible.
Meanwhile, delivery of international humanitarian aid continues in Tbilisi for flood relief. After receiving aid from Italy, Georgia expects assistance from Germany and Latvia as well.
The U.S. Embassy to Georgia has already sent aid worth USD 50,000. An additional 15 tons of humanitarian aid have already been delivered to Tbilisi from Norway. Officials say that the Azerbaijani government has also pledged USD 100,000 in assistance.
