Report: Developments in Georgia were Challenging for OSCE
An annual Report 2004 issued by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) says that the political changes in Georgia made ?OSCE activities in the country particularly challenging and also demanding increased attention from the Organization’s Chairmanship.?
In particular, the report emphasizes two ?extraordinary? elections, held in Georgia on January 4 and March 28 ? the presidential and parliamentary elections, respectively – as well as on increasing tensions in the South Ossetian conflict zone last summer and termination of the OSCE Border Monitoring Operation on the Russo-Georgian border.
