EU Envoy Proposes Talks between Nogaideli, Kokoity

Heikki Talvitie, the European Union?s Special Representatives to the South Caucasus, who visited Tskhinvali on April 6, proposed holding of talks between Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli and South Ossetian de facto President Eduard Kokoity, the Press and Information Committee of the breakaway region reported on April 6.


During the talks with South Ossetian de facto Foreign Minister Murat Jioyev and Special Affairs Minister Boris Chochiev Heikki Talvitie hailed the process of negotiations within the frames of the Joint Control Commission (JCC), however added that not all the agreements of JCC are fulfilled, according to the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee.


The sides also discussed the Georgian government?s initiatives with respect to the peaceful resolution of the conflict in South Ossetia. Boris Chociev stressed Tskhinvali?s negative attitude towards Georgia?s peace plan that was presented by Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili in Strasbourg at the Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe session.
