Russia, Georgia Hold Consultations over Military Bases

A group of Russian experts led by Foreign Ministry?s Special Envoy Lev Mironov arrived in Tbilisi on April 6 to discuss military issues with the Georgian authorities.

After the two-day expert level consultations, it is planned to hold next round of Russian-Georgian talks over pullout of Russia’s two military bases from Georgia on April 14-15, according to the Georgian Foreign Ministry.

The Georgian-Russian talks held in Moscow on March 23-25 failed to narrow the gap existing over the two sides’ proposed timeframe for the withdrawal of Russia?s two military bases stationed in Batumi and Akhalkalaki.
