Solana Discussed Georgian Conflicts with Putin, Lavrov

Javier Solana, the European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during his visit to the Russian Federation on April 5.

The issues of resolution of Abkhaz and South Ossetian conflicts were discussed during the talks with President Putin in Russia?s Black Sea resort of Sochi on April 5, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports.

?Russia is interested in establishing closer relations with the European Union … Our efforts should promote the resolution of South Ossetian and Abkhaz conflicts,? Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said after the talks with the EU foreign policy chief.
