Russian Senator: Russian-Georgian Relationship Progressing
Russian Senator Mikhail Margelov, the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Russian Federal Council, the upper house of the Russian Parliament, said on March 28 that ?despite particular difficulties, the relations between Georgia and Russia are progressing.?
?The heritages of [Georgia?s ex-Presidents Zviad] Gamsakhurdia and [Eduard] Shevardnadze hang on the current Russo-Georgian relations. The current authorities of Georgia face the problem of modernization of the country and Russia can help in this process,? RIA Novosti news agency quotes Margelov as saying.
He added that Russia?s ?pro-Georgian foreign policy means the strengthening of bilateral Russo-Georgian ties.?
