Defense Ministry Officials Arrested for Alleged Embezzlement

Deputy chief of the logistic department of the Georgian Defense Ministry Zurab Khutsishvili and inspector of the infrastructure department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Gia Kheloishvili were arrested for suspected misuse of power and embezzlement.

The case allegedly involves the misappropriation of around 24,000 Lari (USD 13,000) by these officials during the construction of military facilities. According to the General Prosecutor?s Office the investigation might reveal the identities of other Defense Ministry officials who may also be involved in this misappropriation case.
