Georgia Claims Russia Obstructs OSCE Training Program for Border Guards

In a statement issued on March 10 the Georgian Foreign Ministry said: ?because of the unconstructive position of the Russian side, which has already been expressed by termination of the [OSCE] Border Monitoring Operation (BMO), the same threat is now being posed to the training program for the Georgian border guards in frames of this organization [OSCE].?

Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Giorgi Gomiashvili will push this issue at a session of the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna on March 10, the Foreign Ministry reported.

?The Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister will call on the Russian Federation to take a constructive position and will offer the OSCE Permanent Council a concrete proposal over the launch of a training program [for the Georgian border guards],? the Georgian Foreign Ministry stated.
