Venice Commission to Discuss Judiciary Reforms, South Ossetia

A plenary session of the Council of Europe?s Venice Commission will discuss the judicial reform in Georgia and the status of breakaway South Ossetia on 11-12 March in Venice, the Council of Europe reported on March 10. 


At the request of the Georgian authorities, the Venice Commission, which is the advisory body of the Council of Europe for constitutional issues, became involved in helping the Georgian side with the process of drafting a plan over South Ossetia?s status within the Georgian state.


Deputy Minister of Justice of Georgia Konstantine Vardzelashvili will inform the Commission on further developments on the status of South Ossetia, following a recent visit by the Commission to Georgia.


In addition, the Commission will adopt its opinion on the latest draft constitutional amendments relating to the judiciary reforms in Georgia.
