Georgia, Russian Energy Giant to Sign 5-Year Cooperation Plan

Andrey Rappoport, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Russia’s state-owned energy giant Unified Energy System (UES) met with Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli in Tbilisi on March 5 and discussed potential cooperation between the two countries in the energy sphere.


The Russian energy giant, which already owns 75% of the shares in the electricity distribution company Telasi in the capital Tbilisi, wants to sign a five-year cooperation contract with the Georgia side.


“This document should outline our cooperation strategy for at least five years,” Andrey Rappoport told reporters after his talks with the Georgian officials.
