Bagapsh Leads in Abkhaz Polls
Chairman of the Abkhaz Central Election Commission (CEC) Batal Tabagua announced, early on January 13, that presidential candidate Sergey Bagapsh garnered 91,1% of votes in the January 12 elections, Itar-Tass news agency reported.
Batal Tabagua also said that 58,5% of eligible voters cast ballots; hence the elections are valid.
According to the CEC Sergey Bagapsh?s contender, leader of the People?s Party of Abkhazia Iakub Lakoba could garner only around 3,400 votes.
Chairman of the Abkhaz CEC said that no complaints that might influence election results were submitted to the electoral commission.
