MoD Denies Resignation of Chief of Staff

The Defense Ministry strongly denied reports that Vladimer Chachibaia, chief of staff of the armed forces, had filed for resignation.

“It is nonsense,” Nana Intskirveli, MoD spokesperson, told Civil.Ge late on Friday evening. “He [Chachibaia] continues to perform his duties.”

Unofficial reports about alleged resignation emerged on February 27 and on Saturday the Georgian daily Rezonansi ran an article saying that Chachibaia filed for resignation but the President had not yet accepted it.
