Interior Minister Claims Anti-Criminal Operation is Almost Over

(Tbilisi, November 21, Civil Georgia) – “Anti-criminal operation in Pankisi gorge is practically over. We fully control situation in the gorge,” Georgian Interior Minister said at the Parliamentary session today.

“But war in Chechnya will always undermine stability in Pankisi gorge,” Koba Narchemashvili told the MPs.

He said that the mobilization of the large number of the law enforcers in the gorge during the anti-criminal operation, which launched on August 25, caused increase of crimes in other regions of Georgia.
