Khajimba: Militias Hand over Arms

Former presidential contender Raul Khajimba said on December 9, at a news briefing in Sokhumi, that his armed supporters, as well as the supporters of opposition leader Sergey Bagapsh ?have practically completed their surrendering of arms.?
 
?Actually, an arms hand-over has been completed. Armed units have been dismantled as well,? RIA Novosti quotes Khajimba as saying. 
 
Disarmament of the military units is one of the provisions of the powersharing agreement between former presidential rivals Sergey Bagapsh and Raul Khajimba signed on December 6.

The document also envisages holding of repeat elections in the breakaway region before January 13, in which Bagapsh will run for President, while Khajimba ? for Vice-President.
