MPs Hail Georgia’s Inclusion in EU Neighborhood Policy

In a statement passed on June 24, the Georgian Parliament welcomed European Union’s decision of June 14 to include Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia in its European Neighborhood Policy (ENP), which is designed to offer member countries a privileged relationship with the EU.

The Parliament of Georgia also called on Armenia and Azerbaijan to jointly develop a Pact on Stability in the South Caucasus.

EU Commissioner Janez Potocnik of Slovenia, who together with Commissioner Günter Verheugen is in charge of European enlargement, will visit Georgia on 5-6 July to discuss with the Georgian leadership details of the ENP policy.

“This visit is of a huge importance, since Georgia’s further relations with the European Union significantly depends on the recommendations of the Slovenian Commissioner,” Davit Bakradze, chairman of the parliamentary committee for European integration said at the parliamentary session on June 24.
