MP Quits Ruling Party

MP Kakha Kukava, who was elected in the legislative body through the ruling National Movement-Democrats party-list, announced on May 30 about his resignation from the party membership.

MP Kakha Kukava has been campaigning in Adjara in support of lifting Adjara?s autonomous status, along with other members of the parliament – Koba Davitashvili and Zviad Dzidziguri, both former allies of President Saakashvili.

?During the campaigning we encountered with the obstacles from the local authorities, which were widely used by the former Adjarian leadership [ousted in early May],? MP Kakha Kukava told reporters on May 30.
