Date for Adjarian Elections Set

President Saakashvili said on May 10 that snap local elections in Adjara Autonomous Republic will be held on June 20.

Direct presidential rule is imposed in Adjara, after ex-ruler of the region Aslan Abashidze fled Georgia on May 6.

The Interim Council, which is under the subordination of the President, will govern the Autonomous Republic before the elections.
