Burjanadze Called Adjarian Authorities for Dialogue
Chairperson of the outgoing Parliament Nino Burjanadze called on the Adjarian authorities for defusing the tension through a dialogue, adding that the central authorities’ demands are “justified.”
“The authorities cannot permit the existence of any illegal checkpoints inside the country, like there is at Choloki [river, which divides Adjara from rest of Georgia]. The authorities cannot permit, that the citizens of Georgia have no right to freely move inside the country. We cannot also tolerate the presence of illegal arms,” Nino Burjanadze told reporters on April 15.
