Burjanadze Left for Adjara
Interim President Nino Burjanadze, who will return on the Parliamentary Chairperson’s post after the inauguration of new President on January 25, left for Adjarian capital Batumi this evening to hold talks with the leader of Autonomous Republic Aslan Abashidze.
It is anticipated that the relations between Abashidze and the central authorities, as well as the preparations for the military march, marking the presidential inauguration in Batumi will be discussed during the talks.
Recently the Adjarian leadership chose a conciliatory stance towards the country’s new leadership. The Adjarian authorities did not oppose holding of the military parade in Batumi on January 25, which will be attended by the President-elect Mikheil Saakashvili.
