U.S. to Allocate $164m to Assist Georgia

Richard Boucher, the Spokesman of the U.S. Department of State, said on January 16 that the U.S. Government will continue to render assistance to Georgia.

?Our support for the Georgians has been longstanding, it’s been ongoing, and it?s been very solid.  In the 2004 budget, I think we have $164 million of support for Georgia.  So I would expect significant U.S. support to continue,? Richard Boucher said at a news briefing in Washington on January 16.

He also said that U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell would travel to Tbilisi and Moscow next week. In the Georgian capital Powell will attend the inauguration of President-elect Mikheil Saakashvili on January 25.
