Minister: A Banker Abducted for Ransom

Interior Minister Giorgi Baramidze said ?it is most likely? that kidnappers of Tamaz Maghlakelidze, a member of supervisory councilof the United Georgia Bank, ?aim at receiving ransom.?

Tamaz Maghlaperidze, who was the chief of the Georgian customs service, was kidnapped at gunpoint early in the morning on December 5.

One of the branches of the United Georgian Bank was robbed on December 4 in downtown Tbilisi. Reportedly up to USD 50,000 was stolen.
