Tbilisi Police Chief Refuses to Obey Shevardnadze’s Orders

Chief of Tbilisi police Levan Maisuradze said today that he will not obey Shevardnadze and expressed readiness to cooperate with “acting President of Georgia Nino Burjanadze.”

Earlier dozens of servicemen of the Gulua Special-Purpose Unit of the Interior Ministry joined the protesters.

Reports say that Giorgi Shervashidze, commander of the internal troops, also refused to obey Shevardnadze’s orders, however the report is not confirmed yet.
