Shevardnadze Left for Senaki, Batumi
President Shevardnadze visits today western Georgian town of Senaki and the capital of Adjara Autonomous Republic Batumi. His visit aims at gaining support in the Georgian regions, while the protesters in Tbilisi demand his resignation.
The President said on November 9 after unsuccessful talks with the opposition leaders that he will discuss with Aslan Abashidze, the Adjarian leader, “the role of Autonomous Republic and its leader in the future of Georgia during about an hour and a half talks.”
Mikheil Saakashvili, the opposition leader said late on November 9 while addressing protesters in front of the Parliament that Shevardnadze “seeks for allies in Batumi and he could not find any other than Dictator Aslan Abashidze.”
