CEC Secretary Assaulted

Up to six unknown men attacked and severely beat up Secretary of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Giorgi Mikanadze late on October 11.

Giorgi Mikanadze, who is the representative of the presidential-backed election bloc For New Georgia in the CEC, ruled out the robbery attempt, as the attackers did not take any money from him.

The member of the alliance For New Georgia Irakli Gogava blamed the Burjanadze-Democrats opposition election bloc for assaulting CEC Secretary. The Burjanadze-Democrats dismissed the accusation as ?absurd.?
