Police Foils Kmara Rally Again

The police foiled today anti-governmental protest rally of the youth movement Kmara (Enough) in a western Georgian city of Poti.

The Kmara activists were beaten up by the police; reportedly some of them got severe injuries. The Kmara activists tried to protest against President Shevardnadze, who is visiting Poti today.

The Rustavi 2 TV channel reported that its crew was also attacked by the police. The law enforcers seized a video camera and the tape showing how the police was beating up the students.

On October 10 police also prevented the Kmara protest rally in Tbilisi in front of the State Chancellery, while the presidential-backed election bloc For New Georgia was holding a presentation of its election platform.
