Bolnisi Incident Suspect Detained

The court sentenced Ramiz Mamedov, who is suspected in participating Bolnisi incident, to three month pre-trial detention.

Dozens were injured on September 26 during the clash between the opposition National Movement party and the local authorities and the police.

Ramiz Mamedov, ethnic Azeri is a supporter of the National Movement.

Kamal Muradkhanov of National Movement, who will run for MP in the Bolnisi single-mandate constituency on November 2 parliamentary elections, said today that Mamedov did not take part in the incident and he was detained illegally. ?The government suppresses opposition,? he added.
