Parliament’s Phones Cut off Because of Debt

(Tbilisi, September 5, 2003, Civil Georgia) – The state-owned communication company Electrokavshiri disconnected phones in the Parliament of Georgia because of debt.

According to the Electrokavshiri the total debt of the Parliament consists up to 214,000 Lari (USD 101,000), as a result of which 435 phones in the Parliament were disconnected. The Parliament’s debt has been accumulated since 2002.

As the Electrokavshiri reports, the communication will not be restored in the Parliament until the debt is covered.

This is the third case of disconnecting the legislative body’s phones this year.
