US Calls Georgia to Cooperate with OSCE for Fair Elections

(Tbilisi, June 24, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Douglas Davidson, deputy chief of the U.S. Mission to the OSCE called at the June 17 meeting of the Permanent Council in Vienna the Georgian government for fair and democratic elections.

Davidson urged the government of Georgia to work closely with the OSCE to ensure that upcoming parliamentary elections are free, fair and transparent.

“The United States considers these elections to be particularly important, as they will set the stage for the next presidential election, which will involve a transition of power,” US diplomat said.
