Shevardnadze, Soros Confirm Mutual Respect

(Tbilisi, June 6 2003, Civil Georgia) – Georgian President?s press service reported that Eduard Shevardnadze and businessman and philanthropist George Soros held a telephone conversation on June 5 and confirmed their mutual respect.

The phone conversation followed President Shevardnadze?s June 2 statement that ?one of the international organizations finance anti-governmental forces in Georgia that is interference in the internal affairs.?

Shevardnadze did not name the organization, however earlier President?s supporters blamed Soros Foundation in Georgia in funding opposition forces.

Georgian President?s press service reports that George Soros ?assured Eduard Shevardnadze that he does not interfere in Georgia?s internal affairs.?

Shevardnadze and Soros agreed to connect each other in case of any misunderstandings in the future.
