Special Session of the Parliament Scheduled for May 30
(Tbilisi, May 28 2003, Civil Georgia) Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze decreed today to convene a special session of the Parliament on 30 May, 2003, a source from the State Chancellery told Civil Georgia.
Amendments to the election code, adopted in the first hearing on May 21, will be the main item on the agenda.
The Parliament is facing a deadline for reaching a compromise on the election code, so that the voter’s lists are published on June 1.
Last week several opposition parties walked out from the session of the parliament, as the parties reached a deadlock on the election code amendments.
