The World Bank will Issue $15 Million Credit for Social Development Purposes

(Tbilisi, May 19, 2003. Civil Georgia) – According to the decision of the Board of Directors of the World Bank, Georgia will receive 15 million dollars long term soft credit for social development purposes, President Shevardnadze said in May 19 radio interview.

“The credit will also have positive impact on poverty reduction program in the country. We have already developed such project and submitted to the international organizations for consideration. After this the aims of the poverty reduction project will be presented to the public as well” – the President said.

This will be the second long term credit of the World Bank for the social sphere. Previously Georgia received 20 million dollars for the same purposes.
