Shevardnadze Did Not Rule Out Opening of the Embassy in Baghdad
(Tbilisi, May 12, 2003. Civil Georgia) – President Shevardnadze did not rule out possibility of establishment of the Georgian embassy in Baghdad after formation of the interim government in Iraq.
“We will actively participate in the post-war reconstruction of Iraq and I believe, that we will have our representatives there. We are ready to support the US in reconstructing Iraq. I have declared our readiness to do so as early as on February 3” – President Shevardnadze said in his Monday Radio Interview on May 12.
He said that Georgian militaries and engineers, who have already underwent the special training, are ready to be dispatched to Iraq.
