President Slams Ministers for Budgetary Shortfall
(Tbilisi. March 12, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Georgian President Shevardnadze criticized the Finance Ministry for the budgetary shortfall at the government’s meeting today.
Deputy State Minister Giorgi Isakadze informed the government today regarding the fulfillment of the budget in January and February. He supposed that the government will fail to meet the budgetary targets of the first three months of 2003.
Deputy State Minister also said that none of the recommendation of the International Monetary Fund is implemented so far.
“It is inadmissible what was happening in January-February. I promise, I will dismiss all of your [ministers], if the situation is not improved,” Eduard Shevardnadze stated.
After the government’s meeting Finance Minister Mirian Gogiashvili told the reporters that the statement concerning the anticipated budgetary shortfall in the first three months is “exaggerated”.
