MPs Want to Be Briefed on Shevardnadze, Putin Summit

(Tbilisi. March 11, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Opposition Parliamentary factions demanded at the Parliamentary session today from the Foreign and Special Affairs Ministers to inform the MPs regarding the results of meeting of Georgian and Russian Presidents in Sochi on March 6-7.

“We want to know what it means “synchronized process of resumption of railway link and return of IDPs in Abkhazia” Shevardnadze is talking about? We want the Foreign Minister to come hear and explain,” MP Gubaz Sanikidze of Traditionalist opposition faction said at the Parliamentary session on March 11.

Nino Burjanadze, Parliamentary Chairperson proposed to hold meeting between the President Shevardnadze and the leaders of the Parliamentary factions.

Opposition MPs expressed concern regarding the results of the meeting and Georgian President”s readiness to reopen railway link with Russia, via breakaway Abkhazia.
